What Others Said About Hothouse...
Rewriting the book on fundraisers
“The
Sprout Fund presents its sixth annual Hothouse benefit bash this
Saturday, transforming a former shopping arcade built by industrialist
Henry Clay Frick into a living, breathing, pulsating showcase of
regional art and community initiatives. ... Every summer, the highly
anticipated happening draws more than 2,000 party-goers to a unique
redevelopment site, where featured artists, environmentalists,
musicians, urbanistas, and all-around culture enthusiasts mix and
mingle with Sprout staff and supporters.”

A month of Pittsburgh culture in one night
“Join
a couple thousand of your closest friends tonight for Hothouse, The
Sprout Fund's annual fundraising party. ... Eat, drink, watch, talk,
and listen on the upper floors of Downtown’s grand old Union Trust
Building. The place even has its own theatre, hosting rock by Harangue,
belly-dance by Zafira Dance Company, hip hop by Hands Down, and spins
by DJ Selecta. Elsewhere there’s more live music, art exhibits, film
screenings—basically, it’s a month of Pittsburgh cultcha in one night.”
—Pittsburgh City Paper, 8/20
About Hothouse
Hothouse
is The Sprout Fund’s annual benefit and showcase event. The event
serves as a stage to present a sampling of some of the innovative
projects and emerging leaders of successful community initiatives
supported by Sprout over the past year. Held annually at unique
development sites, the event celebrates the organization’s
accomplishments and features live music and performances, food and
drink by Pittsburgh favorites, a silent auction, and a VIP reception.
As
The Sprout Fund’s “live annual report” to the community, the event
creates an incredible opportunity for the wide cross-section of
Pittsburgh’s business and social circles that come together each year
in support of Sprout’s mission to meet and mingle. The event has been
lauded previously as one of the top 5 parties of the year by the
Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and the city’s “top fundraiser” by the
Pittsburgh City Paper. The event attracted more than 2,400 attendees in
2008.
Support for the event has been strong every year; this
year 36 financial sponsors, 4 media sponsors, 24 in-kind supporters, 32
food & drink sponsors, and 57 silent auction donors joined hundreds
of friends of the organization to raise more than $130,000 for The
Sprout Fund.
